Developmental Disabilities Ministry

In 1992, HopeTree Family Services established a new ministry...the Developmental Disabilities Ministry. A step in a new direction for HopeTree, the Developmental Disabilities Ministry (DDM) was created to provide homes for adults with developmental disabilities.

The purpose of DDM is to create an environment in which adults with developmental disabilities can experience the most complete life possible.  It fosters the belief that the adults are capable, integral members of a community and can contribute as functional members of society.

DDM has group homes in several locations throughout Virginia including:
  -Salem
  -Martinsville
  -Fredericksburg
  -Richmond
  -Abingdon

In addition to the residential care provided through community-based homes in each of these locations, DDM also provides short-term respite care, residential support services, respite camps, and long-term planning assistance.

More DDM homes and other services are anticipated as Virginians address the needs of special adults in their hometowns.
