(12/7/2009) HopeTree Family Services
First Citizens Bank Christmas Auction
Salem— First Citizens Bank of Salem has long supported charitable organizations in our area, but the special event this local banking institution is sponsoring on December 17 truly celebrates not only some of Salem’s most enduring citizens, but is designed to benefit some of Virginia’s most deserving residents.
The First Citizens Bank Give Back Program brings together Salem businesses and organizations that have operated for at least 50 years; each of which presents displays representing their history in Salem as well as items to be auctioned off in support of HopeTree Family Services, which was chartered to care for at-risk children and youth in 1890 and began caring for adults with intellectual disabilities through its Developmental Disabilities Ministry in 1992.
“We thought this would be a good way to celebrate the rich history of Salem’s business community and support HopeTree Family Services which does so much to make our community’s future better and stronger than ever through the great work it does,” said First Citizen’s Bank Assistant Vice-President Brenda Stephenson.
The Give Back Program event to benefit HopeTree Family Services takes place at the First Citizens Bank branch located at 106 Roanoke Boulevard in Salem and begins at 6:00 pm on December 17. The Open House-style occasion will feature a performance by the Rainbow Ringers, a handbell choir consisting of HopeTree DDM residents, Christmas caroling, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction. All proceeds from the auction will go to support the many ministries of HopeTree Family Services.
